The judicial selection process should be non-partisan, the merits of the candidates should not be viewed through a political lens. The most important foundation of our legal system is judicial independence. Injecting partisan politics into the judicial selection process undermines the integrity of the judiciary. The people of Racine County deserve a neutral, detached and independent judge to fairly hear any case brought before the court.

Candidates should be compared not based on their name or their political connections, but instead based on weighing the relative experience and qualifications of the candidates.

I have spent the last 34 years focused on three things; my family, the law and our community. The only endorsement that matters to me is yours. I hope I can earn your vote on April 6th.

Gene on The Constitution: I'll respect it, not rewrite it!

Some candidates seeking to become a judge would like to re-write the United States Constitution when and if they are elected to the bench. That, however, is wrong. Our constitution embraces our core legal values, and has withstood the test of time for the more than 222 years since it was signed.

If elected as your judge, I will honor the Constitution, and not try to "re-write" it.

"The law makes a promise - neutrality. If the promise gets broken, the law as we know it ceases to exist. All that's left is the dictate of a tyrant, or perhaps a mob."

- Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy
